7/16/23 from 10-4 Interested in improving your grazing skills or new to Management Intensive Grazing? This class will employ the teachings of Holistic Management along with the techniques of Management Intensive Grazing (MIG) to assist you in improving pasture productivity and raising healthy livestock. Livestock and pasture set-ups to see at Earthwise Farm & Forest include: pastured pigs, grassfed dairy cows & young stock, oxen, meat birds, layers and heritage turkeys. Class content will include: • Tour of Pastured Livestock Systems at Earthwise Farm & Forest • The How & Why of Management Intensive Grazing • Pasture system design for you and your livestock • Calculating livestock feed needs • Planning for the whole growing season • Multi Species Grazing • Plant identification • Electric fencing (temporary and permanent) for your various livestock groups * Organic Certification - what do you need to do to certify your farm - it may be easier than you think Participants will come away with the information needed to build a grazing plan for their farm, along with handouts and resources to continue on their journey with confidence. About the Instructor: Lisa McCrory is a Grazing and Whole Farm Planning consultant with 30 years of grazing experience and training in Holistic Management (c). Her career in Grazing research & outreach started in 1990, studying under and working for the late Bill Murphy, Author of 'Greener Pastures on Your Side of the Fence'. She spent another 16 years working for NOFA-VT as a Dairy and Livestock technical service provider, where she continued her organic livestock health & grazing assistance, Grant writing, and event organizing before deciding to focus her energies on her own farm. Lisa owns and operates Earthwise Farm & Forest, an organic homestead farm incorporating biodynamic, regenerative, and ecological practices & principles. Products include organic grass fed raw milk; organic pasture raised chicken, heritage turkey, beef, (non-organic) pastured eggs, and half an acre of organic vegetables, herbs and flowers. Cost for the class: $95 per person or 2 people from the same farm for $150.
